The Indian Railway network is one of the largest in world; its services are used by the whole population of the country and everyone no matter what their socio-economic background uses the system. The demand for Railway ticket reservation is always very high and queue on the reservation center is always very high, today IRCTC is one of the largest eCommerce portals in whole of Asia.
Online reservation facility is currently provided by Indian Railways through its subsidiary IRCTC to help customer book their railway tickets with the intention of not only reducing crowds at the window but to also offer the benefits of technology to their consumers and offer ticket booking services in the comfort of the of their home.
IRCTC online service however was restricted to the banked users (40%), Debit Card users (13%), and Credit Card users (2%) of the population. A large segment of this population of more than 70% still had no formal access to the IRCTC service as they do not posses or have access to any of the banking services.

ItzCash today is the largest non bank payment processor with IRCTC, but yet the largest amongst all payments processor for online payments of railway ticket reservation, ItzCash accounts for over 0.3 mn transactions worth ` 30.5 mn daily, thus extending the reach of IRCTC across population strata as a fulfillment of IRCTC social objective of making travel ticketing convenient and mass based.
